NASA Mars Rover Concept Vehicle

Smart Robots Review went on Location at the NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to bring you a close look of the newly revealed Mars Rover Concept Vehicle.

Meet the newest concept vehicle designed for navigating the demanding landscape of Mars! Based on NASA science, the next generation of space explorers could be traveling and working in a high-tech mobile laboratory similar to this rover vehicle. The rover vehicle is an impressive size with its mobile lab, and has massive wheels designed to travel over dunes, rocks and craters. Though the rover vehicle’s permanent home is Kennedy Space Center, a Summer of Mars tour of east coast cities is planned for July and August. The rover vehicle rolls out of the visitor complex June 30 to make tour stops including:

Atlanta, GA, Sun Trust Park, July 14 – 16
Washington, D.C., National Air & Space Museum, July 21 – 22
Jersey City, NJ, Liberty Science Center, July 29 – 30
New York, NY, Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, August 3 – 6

Once the tour concludes, the rover vehicle will be welcomed home in late August. Visitors can get up close to this extraordinary machine that was commissioned by Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. NASA approved the rover vehicle design, but no U.S. tax dollars were used to fund the building of this vehicle.

We like to thank Assistant Manager of Public Relations at NASA Kennedy Space Center for her assistance.
